Big Island Bees is a multi-generational, family-run beekeeping business that started in Hawaii in the 1970s. After challenges like cheap imported honey and bee health issues, they adapted in 2004 by selling their own honey at local markets under the Big Island Bees label. The company is unique in creating apisculptures – beeswax sculptures exhibited worldwide.
Big Island Bees has over 2,500 hives with around 125 million bees producing honey sold under their label. They also create apisculptures made from beeswax in collaboration with the bees. Additionally, the company supplies bee larvae to a local conservation center to feed endangered bird species as part of environmental protection efforts.
Our role was to supply them with a capper, which is CDA’s VS400. It is an automatic machine specialized in cylindrical caps, ideal for various industries due to its capacity to adjust to different types of caps.
